With my knitting and sewing obsession, the goal is to have a capsule wardrobe that is completely hand-made. Right now, I'm about at 10%...a long way to go, I know, but the fun is in the journey, right? :) coat and dress I sewed awhile back  (using patterns from  Lotta Jansdotter's book  :Pilvi coat and Kiomi dress) wearing my new Adidas:D  I also just recently made this shirt for the hubby. Pattern is the Colette Negroni (which I highly recommend). Fabric used: cotton shirting This is by no means perfect, but is probably one of the things I've sewn I'm quite proud of just because shirts are not the easiest things to sew, y'all. Are you a fan of handmade crafts/garments?

New in...coz you just can't have one

I know it seemed like only yesterday that I added a serger to my sewing tools, but I couldn't resist this new addition to the family. It's a Brother CE5500T Computerized Sewing Machine, you guys! We were at Costco and when my hubby saw this on sale, we both knew I had to get it. It's always good to have a backup, right? If you're interested in this (and you're in Canada), check out your local Costco as they might still have it. (This cost less than my Janome mechanical machine.) I'm so used to my mechanical with its basic stitches, so I'm really happy with being able to play with more options. It also has more choices when it comes to types of buttonholes, and an automatic needle threader (always a plus). (I will say though that my Janome is more solidly built and heavier.) My family is getting bigger! hehe I also just got this vintage sewing book from Amazon that I've been really wanting for awhile. I've heard great things abou

I should really know by now....when my daughter tells me she just wants to watch me take outfit pics, this would happen.... Forever 21 shirt with some old pants from Brandy Melville, Vans shoes  So, I saw these pics. I told her to go to the other side and just to let me take pics by myself. Did she listen? Like a ninja!

The Colette Moneta

Guys, I've been on a sewing kick lately, so here's another dress I made. I love how this dress turned out, even though I did a few mistakes on it. It's just so comfy (made with a knit fabric), and it has pockets, y'all! (If you sew, I'm on Pattern Review as bg031 , where you can find more detailed notes of my sewing projects.) Colette Moneta dress I made worn with Doc Martens

My latest faves:) 1) Son & Park Beauty Water and Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence These two are now part of my basic skin care routine. I feel the difference when I forget to use these babies. 2) Janome XG 43D Serger LOVE! This, combined with my basic Janome SUV1108 machine (which has been been a love since I started sewing), just makes creating/altering garments such a pleasure. Now with a serger, it's also much more efficient.  If you're on the fence about getting a serger, I'm telling you, GO FOR IT! I was scared to buy one before because of all the threading horror stories I've read, but if you just read the instructions and watch the DVD that comes with it, everything should be fine:) 3) Stranger Things One of the best TV series I've seen in a long time. Both Cheryl and Jane  have mentioned it on their blogs, and I was curious why everyone seemed to like this show. Now, I know! Great cast, great pacing of the story, and an

The Fan Expo held here in Toronto is another yearly tradition that we do every year since 2012. It's always a great time to let our geekiness come out in full force! What happened this year: 1) My middle child actually dressed up! I sewed a dress for myself to wear, but it was only him who was actually in costume (as Ash Ketchum). I knitted for him last year the vest and gloves, and the hat was a last minute sewing project. 2) No photo op or autograph session for me this year.  The timing for the celebs I wanted to have pics with (ie. John Cusack, Christopher Lloyd) were kinda late, and the lineup for autographs were insane! Well, there's always next year. 3) These were the most popular costumes we saw: Harley Quinn (as in, almost every other girl was dressed as her!), Kylo Ren and Rey, Pokémon characters, and Marvel superheroes. Without further ado, here are the pics:) On the subway en route... As usual, we didn't take the youngest coz she's still to
