Is that your Bella Swan outfit?

Image
Every time I wear plaid, my husband thinks I'm trying to channel Kristin Stewart from Twilight, and I'm like, "No, Edward. I mean.... what's your name again?" image from popsugar.co.uk image from coolspotters.com shirt from Urban Outfitters, Levi's jeans, uggs We were in Eaton Centre (downtown Toronto) briefly today and passed by the new Wilfred stand-alone store (which was only available before in Aritzia). We didn't have the time to go in, but I thought I'd show you guys the store front.

Isn't it ironic?

I have been looking for a floral dress for the longest time to wear in the spring/summer season, and of course, when did I find it? Why, close to the end of summer, of course! Anyhoo, I have fallen in love with this dress because it reminds me of the Kate Moss for Topshop Pansy dress that came out aeons ago. H&M dress, Jeffrey Campbell booties I love the print of the dress...so colourful... And look...he does exist! My dear patient husband with my Upla satchel

Obsession #5 (a.k.a. my ideal fall/winter uniform)

Gosh...if I can live in oversized chunky knit sweaters and desert/chukka boots year round, I would. Seriously. Acne sweater (image from jonathanandolivia.com) Etoile Isabel Marant sweater (image from vogue.com) Thakoon Addition asymmetrical oversized sweater (image form net-a-porter.com) Vince chunky sweater (image from net-a-porter.com) Clarks desert boots (image from softmoc.com) Roots Chukka boots (image from canada.roots.com) Opening Ceremony Sultan Wash desert boots (image from openingceremony.us) I would wear these with leggings or skinny jeans, but you can pretty much wear anything on the bottom and still look great. If the sweater is oversized enough and it's nice outside, you can wear it as a dress.

It might be time to get rid of those...

I've had these jeans for sooooo long I can't even remember when I got them. I really should retire them, but they are just too comfortable. But you know what? I do remember paying $2 for them (brand new) as they were on sale and still further discounted. I should have gotten the whole lot of them....argh! As you can see, I don't have any problem letting go of things.... cropped shirt from Rainbow Bar in Hollywood (CA), Banana Republic tank top,  Old Navy jeans, Forever 21 booties

Influences: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

Image
There is a reason why the twins are muses to many designers. They certainly have a distinctive style, but more importantly, they dress for themselves. I honestly think they could not care less what is written or said about their fashion aesthetic. They wear what makes them feel good, and really, in the end, I think all women should have this self-assuredness. Easier said than done, I know, which is why I think Mary Kate and Ashley are great influences not only for young girls but for all of us "older" women as well. I have complained about the summer heat in this blog a couple of times, but even I feel a bit sad that summer is ending especially after reading Tavi's post . It reminded me of myself as a young girl, and what the end of summer meant. Admittedly, I expressed it in a less sublime way... Lechateau dress, Nike flipflops from sister-in-law, LV Speedy 35 bag Out and about I wore this outfit  (although it was not as warm as I would have hoped) as a last hurrah to summer...sniff, sniff...

Your shoes are older than most bloggers!

JET John Eshaya tunic, Urban Planet leggings, YSL sandals I bought these shoes in 1999! She thinks they're hers. People think I'm crazy sometimes for the amount I pay for some stuff, but I rarely splurge unless I really like it. Plus, I do think you get what you pay for. For example, I might have paid a pretty penny (for me) for these shoes back in the day, but they've lasted  for more than a decade! They look beaten up, but I've literally worn them about a thousand times...nuff said!

J. Crew at Yorkdale

Image
I made the trek today to Yorkdale Mall  today to visit the first J.Crew store in Canada that opened on August 18th. The opening was attended by none other than Jenna Lyons herself (the company's creative director). This was the first time I've ever gone into a J.Crew store. Even when we would go to Buffalo, New York to do some outlet shopping, I've never gone into the J.Crew outlet store as I've always thought the style was too preppy for me. Boy, was I wrong! Here are some pics I took with my phone. One of my fave items...the booties, of course! Gosh! I loved every item in the store- from the dresses, blazers and sweaters, to the basic jeans and tee. The bags and shoes were right up my alley. What a great collection, and all in all, I thought the layout was pretty awesome. I was surprised about the prices though, because I honestly thought J.Crew had the same price range as the Gap. Shows what I know, eh? Anyhoo, I was not planning on getting anything at all, b

I thought I'd show you guys my second home... "Sometimes, you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came." Love this Aldo display window! Aritzia is opening soon...woohoo! Lookie at the sale signs! This store rocks! Where else can you get Hello Kitty stuff and band shirts for cheap? Do you guys like this style of photography? I've been a bit obsessed with Instagram lately.
