Halloween 2014 preview

Image
This is the first year I made the costumes for my kids, guys! I did everyone's except for the little cowgirl coz she really wanted this from the Disney store...sigh.... Can you guess which characters they are? Took them to a Halloween bash over the weekend. Didn't stay too long, as everyone was sniffing and hacking (including me).... For my eldest's costume, we went to a thrift store and bought a plain jacket and pants. I hand-sewed the character badge on the jacket (badge from Etsy), and also hand-sewed the pants's accoutrements (materials from a fabric store). I knitted the vest and gloves for my middle child's costume, and also knitted this hat for my costume. Can you guess who I'm gonna be? Heehee Are you excited for Halloween?

We all have different ways to get ready for the change in season. For me, it's new shoes and new hair colour:D Vans Star Wars collection! Squeeeeee! Added some purple in there (Manic Panic Ultra Violet), along with my old hair colours:D It was looking blonde-ish in the previous posts because I had to let the old colours wash off and bleach my roots to make the new colours more vivid. How do you get ready for the change in season?

My new loves:D 1) Sherlock Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! Thank you, Netflix, for having Sherlock. I now understand the hype over Benedict Cumberbatch. Brilliant writing and excellent chemistry between the cast. I watched the three seasons straight, you guys! The Sign of Three episode (Season 3)....enough said. The only downside is that Season 4 comes out 2016.....aaaaaah! (They only come out with one season every two years...sigh....) image from theguardian.com 2) Viajante shawl/poncho This is the latest knitting project I finished, and I'm kinda obsessed with it. You can wear this thing so many different ways! I feel like I'm in a post-apocalyptic movie when I use this:D If you knit, you can find more about the pattern here . Just a plain all-black outfit, but lookie....printed scarf! Wilfred top, old pants from Target, Converse sneakers, scarf from Hong Kong Anyhoo, just wanna let you guys know that my posting may be a bit sporadic for awhile (but I'll still be reading and commenting on my fave blogs. You guys keep me sane:D). My eldest is due for a major surgery the first week of November (for his cleft lip and palate), so fingers crossed that by the end of the year, everything will settle down a bit. On that note, I'd like to share this post by a dear blogger friend, Rooth. Let me tell you...I wish I know in real life the people I've gotten to know through blogging.  and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. P.S. Just wanna take this opportunity to say thank you as well to Powder Blue with Polka Dots for the mention:)
