SCARBERIAN FASHION LOVER

This is what I sewed from the  Merchant and Mills Workbook , which I had to order from Amazon UK coz it's not available here in North America until next year. (Why is that? Sigh....) So happy I did, because I love all the patterns from this book, you guys:) The Bantam Vest is the first pattern, and I decided to make the dress version. I sewed it with a cotton/linen blend fabric. How I wore it: The Bantam vest in the dress version is a very comfortable and easy-to-wear piece:) I love the racer back, and the fact that the back hem is longer. You'll be seeing these Blondo boots a lot...just saying.... To say that sewing has taken over my hobby life is an understatement.... Anyhoo, hope you're all having a lovely day so far:) XOXO

Just thought I'd share with you two new fashion/beauty books I really love: The Craft: DIY Hair and Beauty by Lou Teasdale and Living In Style by Rachel Zoe Different target audience, but I enjoyed both:)  Rachel Zoe's book is filled not only with fashion advice, but also tips on hair &makeup,  house decorating and stuff like how to host a party and travelling. I'm a sucker for this type of books, and Rachel dispenses great advice in my opinion. The book also has gorgeous photos for inspiration. I want this whole setup, guys! Lou Teasdale is the hair and makeup person for One Direction, so I think The Craft is geared for teen-agers (I'm definitely not part of the target audience...ahem....), although there is a short section on tattoos, so I don't know.....I love this book just because it's filled with fun and non-traditional beauty tips. I made the trek today to Yorkdale Mall  today to visit the first J.Crew store in Canada that opened on August 18th. The opening was attended by none other than Jenna Lyons herself (the company's creative director). This was the first time I've ever gone into a J.Crew store. Even when we would go to Buffalo, New York to do some outlet shopping, I've never gone into the J.Crew outlet store as I've always thought the style was too preppy for me. Boy, was I wrong! Here are some pics I took with my phone. One of my fave items...the booties, of course! Gosh! I loved every item in the store- from the dresses, blazers and sweaters, to the basic jeans and tee. The bags and shoes were right up my alley. What a great collection, and all in all, I thought the layout was pretty awesome. I was surprised about the prices though, because I honestly thought J.Crew had the same price range as the Gap. Shows what I know, eh? Anyhoo, I was not planning on getting anything at all, b...

What an adorable little book from the creators of an adorable website. .. My Little Paris is a site that gives Parisians information on what's happening around the city...everything from places to eat and shop, to hotel and bar recommendations. What's awesome about this site is that it gives you information on these little gems that you might not have heard of before, such as where to go to get your Louboutins fixed, or that a Dead Poet's Society still exists in the city. The book is a compilation of these great info. It is written with a cute sense of humour (Hah! Sense of humour can be cute too, you know.) The illustrations by Kanako are fantastic. pp. 28-29 Just perusing this book, along with Ines De La Fressange's Parisian Chic , makes me want to go back there...le sigh... PS I have the English version which just came out. I bought mine from Amazon.fr , but I believe you can pre-order also on Amazon.com

These are the ones I turn to the most when I want to get some style inspiration....ahem...not that I follow them all the time. I do try....if not in physical appearance, then at least in spirit. #1 Parisian Chic by Ines de la Fressange My  latest acquisition but it has become my bible already (does that sound blasphemous?). Just great all around especially if you are obsessed with Paris. Ines has a great sense of humour that comes across clearly in the book. Although some of her suggestions are quite general (ie. mix cheap and chic), her list of stores and places to go in Paris really makes this book amazing. I've discovered some great finds here (ie. Kerstin Adolphson). I've only been to Paris once but do plan to return someday. When I do, this will be my guide book. PS. I also love the pics of her daughter.
