What have I been watching- Summer 2024

Image
It's been a good period of film and TV watching for me lately:) (images from imdb.com) 1) Alien: Romulus It's been a long time since we've gone to the theatre, so I was really excited to see this one. Oh em gee! This was sooooo amazing, and a bit nostalgic to watch as I felt like it combined the vibes of the original Alien and Aliens movies. 2) Godzilla vs King: A New Empire My fave of all the new Godzilla/Kong movies so far. I really loved the fight scenes, especially the climax. 3) Umbrella Academy: The Final Season Although many of the fans did not like one part of the plot line this season (between Five and Lila), I thought the way the show ended was the only way this could have been wrapped up. 4) The Boys: Season 4 I'm still on the fence whether I liked this season or not. The violence and gore this time were just too much and sometimes completely unnecessary, but Homelander and Butcher are such great characters so I will continue to watch this. What have you bee...

Because I've been reading more, my TV/film watching time had gone down a bit, but I thought I'd share what I've seen since my last update that I liked:) 1) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 Really loved this movie. Great end to the trilogy. 2) Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 My middle child got me hooked on this animé! Amazeballz:) 3)Chainsaw Man My eldest son got me hooked on this one. Another amazing animé done by Mappa (who did the later seasons of Attack on Titan). 4) Nope Finally saw this, and loved this too:) I'm a big Jordan Peele fan! 5) X First movie of Ti West's horror trilogy! Very gory for sure so I don't recommend it if you have a weak stomach, but man....great acting from all the cast! What I didn't like: My Best Friend's Excorcism I loved the book by Grady Hendrix, but this movie (done by Amazon) was not a good adaptation AT ALL, which makes me mad! Go read the book, but don''t see the movie. What have you been watching lately?

I've actually seen a lot of movies and shows lately since my last update, but many of them were re-watches or plainly not good, so I'll just talk here about the ones I've seen recently and liked:) images from imdb.com unless otherwise stated 1)Re/Member (on Netflix) Not the scariest Japanese horror, but I thought it had a really great cast, and the love story was cute:) 2)Come Play (on Netflix)  Another one that's not too scary, but I still loved the plot and the little boy playing the main character was great in it. 3) Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 I was waiting for this for a long time, and man, this first instalment as AMAZEBALLZ!!!! I really can't recommend this animé enough:) image from rollingstones.com 4) Scream (on Netflix) I'm a big fan of the original franchise (yes...even the 4th film:)) so this was no-brainer for me. Even though the end was predictable, I still loved this:) What have you been watching lately? Did you guys see the Oscars last n...

Sooooo...I've watched quite a bit of movies and shows over the holidays (the perk of not sleeping much), so I just thought I'd share them here. There are three categories:  1) The best ones 2) The meh and 3) Waste of time  Buckle up!!! (all images from imdb.com) The best ones Crimes of the Future Very gory at some parts (very David Cronenberg). but such a great story and great cast. Last Night in Soho Loved everything about this movie, especially Thomasin McKenzie. Great plot. Morbius I'm probably the only person on earth who loved this movie. I thought Jared Leto did an ok job, and Matt Smith was super awesome as always. (He was also great in Last Night in Soho!) Midnight Club A slow-burn but oh so worth it. Even though this was described as horror, this is really not that scary, which was ok. Just a great series. Glass Onion Love love love. Funny and entertaining for sure, although Knives Out is still my fave out of the two. Everything Everywhere All At Once My middle ...

Since my last update, I've seen a lot of shows and movies, so I'm not gonna put all of them here, but just the ones I liked/currently liking:D all images from imdb.com TV series: 1) The Sandman I though I'd start off with my fave out of all I've seen...I am so obsessed with Tom Sturridge as Morpheus/Dream! I highly recommend this series. You can't really go wrong with anything by Neil Gaiman (author of the graphic novel this was based on.) 2) LOTR: The Rings of Power Loving this so far, and love the cast....except maybe for Galadriel. (I just don't like her acting:( ) 3) House of the Dragon As a GOT fan, I knew I had to watch this. Ok so far....Matt Smith is awesome as always. 4) Attack on Titan Currently binge-watching this. An old series...I know, but I get the hype now. My sons have been telling me to watch this for forever. LOVE LOVE LOVE. 5) All Of Us Are Dead Kinda slow at first, but it did get better, and well...it has zombies so that's a win for me ...

There are actually quite a few movies and shows I've seen since my last update, but I thought I'd just feature here the ones I liked. I also saw a lot of Asian horror, but if I mention all of them, this post would probably be a mile long so I thought I'd skip that for now....LOL all images from imdb.com 1)Jurassic World Dominion My middle child (who is a big fan of the franchise and dinosaurs in general) hated this movie, but I thought it was ok. 2) The Boys Season 3 Super gory and violent, but awesome writing as always (and I do love the cast). 3) The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Love this series as much as Stranger Things, The way they handled Elliot Page's character transitioning  was just so well done. 4)  Bordertown: The Mural Murders I'm a huge fan of the TV series so I was really glad to have finally seen this movie. Gotta love Nordic crime thrillers. 5) Candyman I thought this remake was just ok, but the cast was great, so Imma gonna forgive its shortcomings. ...

Sooooo....this is quite a long list, everyone:) When I was in isolation due to Covid, watching movies was pretty much all I did and had energy for....so....yeah:D  I have finally seen all of Wes Anderson's films (except for Bottle Rocket)...yay! I also re-watched the ones I've already seen. I also did this for some Miyazaki films...hehe In chronological order:  (I will include even the ones that I didn't like or are just ok, in case you haven't seen them and want to know:)) 1) Ravenous This is an old horror-ish film, and I can't believe I just saw it.! It's definitely different in terms of the tone of the film, and because it deals with cannibalism, it's definitely gory but still a great watch. 2) The Thing Also an old horror/sci-fi film, and this one was just ok but still a good watch. 3) The Wind Rises This is such a great Miyazaki film! Love love love. 4) The King After seeing Dune, I really became a Chalamet fan and decided to finally give this a go on ...
