In the beginning of the year, I said that I'm on a "no buy" in terms of clothes and shoes. This means that I now have more money to buy other stuff, like books! LOLZ Here's my last haul... And here's a video of me talking about them on our book club channel: What have you been buying lately?

This year, I decided to read a lot more t han previous years. It's been a great start to the year so far, so yay! (If you're on Goodreads, here's my account:) Anyhoo, I decided to get a new Kobo (my old one broke around 2015....LOLZ), and man, it's been such a game changer! It definitely increased my book-reading mojo. Plus, it's so easy to borrow books from the library using Overdrive! It's a Kobo Clara 2E        Personalized my cover with stickers. Can you guess from what TV show that pineapple one refers to? Hehe I still, however, love to buy physical books. The ones below are the recent acquisitions. Have read most of them already:D (The Devil of Nanking and Book of Night were two books I borrowed from the library but ended up buying my own copies coz I loved them so much!) And can you guess who my current fave authors are? LOLZ Here we are buying more books:D What are you reading currently?

This year, I promised myself I would read more. I used to be a voracious reader, and would love to go back to that:) Fun fact: My major in university was International Studies, but most of my electives were English Literature classes. Guess what? Those were the classes I really did well in....LOLZ What I just finished: Finished The House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski and finished re-reading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. Both are books I really love and give 5 stars out of 5. Currently reading: re-reading The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood. Read this a few times years ago (from the library), and finally bought my own copy reading Chuck Palahniuk's Consider This. Loving this so far. My TBR for the next few months: S by JJ Abrams and Doug Durst Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky) The Odyssey The Iliad Freedom by Jonathan Franzen A Moveable Feast (Hemingway)- re-read On Writing (Stephen King)- re-read Heartless (Marissa Meyer)- from my sis-in-law The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern)- bou...

Books that I've just read or currently reading:) 1) Reacher: Killing Floor by Lee Child         Loved the series on Amazon (and the Tom Cruise movies) so I decided to finally read the first book. I liked it a lot, but is it the best written? Not really, but still a great read.                     2) Fangs by Sarah Andersen I've wanted to get my hands on this for a long time and finally did. I love this graphic novel! Such a quirky story, and Sarah's comedic timing when it comes to her comic panels is just perfect. Currently reading... 3) The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway I've always loved Ernest Hemingway since reading A Moveable Feast and some of his short stories, but have not really read any of his fiction work. (Crazy, right?!?) I am reading this right now, and am also loving it so far. I've always admired his writing style. (Edit:Just realized I've already this a long time ago! This was a re-read, Love...

Currently loving #55- Book raves

I recently just finished reading two books that have really made an impression...two books that I highly recommend you get your hands on if you have not done so yet. 1) The Dressmakers of Auschwitz by Lucy Adlington (non-fiction) I knew this was going to be a hard read from the beginning, and by "hard" I mean emotional and gut-wrenching. As you can see by the book cover, it is the true story of the female Jewish prisoners who became dressmakers while in the concentration camps, sewing for the Nazi wives.  I tend to not read books like this because, frankly, everyday life is hard nowadays for everyone. This book, however, even with its depressing content, was also uplifting and inspirational. These women...I can only aspire to be half as brave as they were. 2) The Road by Cormac McCarthy (fiction) I've been hearing of this book for a long time but avoided reading it because my husband (who has read it before) said it was one of the bleakest books he's read. I finally ...
