My current faves:) 1) Sweater Weather scent from Bath and Body Works (available as candles and wallflowers) Best.Scent.Ever. 2) The new layout of my sewing space I sew in a corner of my daughter's bedroom, and I'm lucky enough that she doesn't care (right now) what I do with it. I've re-arranged everything in this little sewing corner into something that is really efficient for myself, and am very happy with it:) The left area The right corner has my serger. 3) Mosaic knitting I was able to attend a class last week at a local yarn store that explained how to do this type of slipped stitch knitting, and now, I'm kinda obsessed with this method. Super easy to do. My teacher explaining her techniques The sampler cowl I did 4) Snowpiercer (on Netflix) Guys, I highly recommend this movie by Bong Joon Ho. A long one, but oh-sooooooo-good. I think this is Chris Evans' best film to date. Too bad this movie didn't get a wide re

For those on the other side of the world, what's the weather like?

I used to hate hand-me-downs as a kid. Being the middle child, I got my older sister's old clothes sometimes (or my mom would make us dress alike), and didn't like it. Mind you, I never really cared about what I wore until I started uni. Now,  if it fits me and I like it, I say just hand it over....bwahaha! Hand-me-down shirt and skirt from my mom, Adidas sneakers How about you? Do you wear hand-me-downs?

Because comfort should always win.... Uniqlo shirt and joggers, Adidas sneakers

Obsession #39

Just one item, you guys.... good Label Gwyneth Soft Croftie coat  From goop's website: “This is based on the first men’s overcoat I ever owned, which I bought at Canal Jean in, like, 1984. It was a wool men’s tweed coat with a relaxed, dropped shoulder, that I’d wear with the sleeves rolled up. That’s exactly what I wanted this to be: Something John Bender from The Breakfast Club might have worn. It’s a mix of beautiful wool and cashmere, in a gorgeous blue—it’s got a lot of pigment in it.”  My love for Gwyneth will never go away.:) A coat may or may not be in the sewing horizon soon...just sayin.... What is your current obsession?

My husband has had this "desk" for a long time...even before I met him. It was owned by his old room mates, and he ended up keeping it. We've been using it as a TV stand. Guess what? This is actually a vintage sewing machine, y'all! A Singer Fashion Mate 252, which was made around the late 1960's/early 70's. You see...my hubby actually learned how to sew before I did. He used to hem his own pants, which was why he thought he'd be able to use this. However, he never got it to work properly. Now that I've been sewing more, we decided that maybe, I could get it to work. I never did get the chance to take a pic of the machine's state before all the work was done. It wasn't too bad. His room mates had it serviced after buying it so the motor runs, and no major work was needed. It needed cleaning and oiling, however, and several parts needed replacement. I ordered the parts on SPO . (I highly recommend this site. Quick shipping to Canada

I wasn't too sure about the colour of this dress when I got it, but now, I'm kinda digging how it just brightens up the rainy fall days:) Adidas dress and sneakers (I thought the slit was a nice touch:D) Do you like wearing bright clothes?

They're here!

Many of us Torontonians are super excited that Nordstrom and Uniqlo have finally arrived at the downtown Eaton Centre. It's about time! Nordstrom opened on Sept 16th, and Uniqlo on Sept. 30. Hubby and I had the chance to go this past weekend. It was crazy and packed even though we came early. To be expected, I guess. Anyhoo, here are some shots I took, which include my favourite pieces and some inspirational stuff for future outfits/makes:D What I wore: Zara coat, dress I made with Adidas sneakers Uniqlo: Lots of parkas and coats.... My fave piece: an Ines de la Fressange for Uniqlo coat  Nordstrom is right beside Uniqlo.... "I'm smiling, but why am I here?" My small haul from Uniqlo... (I always feel guilty buying clothes nowadays, but I figured basics are ok.) What's inside? a shirt and joggers  Do you shop at Uniqlo?
