Easter 2023

Hey hey! Time for another Easter post:D (Here's the one from last year) As a Catholic, Easter is a big deal for us...right up there with Christmas. This year, we went to church as always. My mother then had an Easter luncheon at her apartment. (We also did a belated celebration of my birthday:D) Here are some pics I took:) My middle child is an altar server, so it was a busy week for him. My younger sis made this cake for me:) Easter food! If you celebrate Easter, how was it? How was your weekend in general?

Easter 2022

This is the first time in two years that we were able to go to church for Easter, which is an important event for us Catholics. It's a bittersweet event, because it's great to finally be able to celebrate it as a community again, but also a bit sad and scary, as cases are going up again in our city, and who knows what will happen in the future.  Anyhoo, thought I'd share an outfit pic of what I wore:D I sewed this dress years ago, and I still like wearing it.:) Excuse the scowl...the sun was right on my face, and my photographer (aka my daughter) wanted to the pic in a hurry...LOL inside the church with my eldest and youngest My middle child is an altar server every Sunday, and here he was during Easter service. Do you celebrate Easter? How was your weekend anyhoo?

A rare occasion

Belated Happy Easter to those who celebrated yesterday:) Last year, Easter celebrations were cancelled. This year, our church was allowed to have 15% of its congregation. We were lucky enough to have booked tickets (yes....you book tickets for church now). It was probably the smallest Easter mass I have ever seen, but nonetheless, it was great to be able to celebrate it, and also...the one time we all got the chance to dress up (well....me for sure anyhoo) :D. old Zara jacket and jumpsuit I sewed, Ecco boots How was your weekend? Did you celebrate Easter?

This will be the first time for many of us Catholics that Holy Week will go by without being in church, but such is life. The great thing is that you can pray anywhere:) If you celebrate (or even if you don't), wishing you a blessed Good Friday, and a Happy Easter! a page from my sketchbook:)

The Elisalex Dress

The latest dress I've made is this dress pattern by By Hand London ...a new fave. I know it seems like I say an outfit I just made is always a fave, but I do find that I improve a little bit more with each project so it becomes one I really love. But this dress, you guys....seriously a LOVE. By Hand London Elisalex Dress  I honestly thought after the first fitting that this would be too small and would not fit, but I opted to still finish it, and what do you know? It fit perfectly after everything was done! worn with an old H&M heels In progress: Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!

The one with the bolero

How was your Easter, guys? We had great weather over here, so yay for that! Here's the outfit I wore for our Easter celebration...more me-made items:) The vest is knitted using a pattern from Sylvia Olsen 's book Knitting Stories, and the dress is made from the Merchant and Mills pattern used  here . I feel like I should just make this dress in different colours, coz I wear the original one a lot! Bolero I knitted using Yeast's Bolero pattern by Sylvia Olsen, dress I sewed using the Bantam Vest pattern from the Merchant and Mills Workbook, Blondo boots Much love from my family to yours:)

Easter-Inspired

Easter, to me, always signals the beginning of spring no matter what the current weather is like (aside from the religious significance, obviously:P). To celebrate, I did my nails in this pastel colour, which I normally don't wear but I think is quite spring-y/Easter-y:) Essie polish in Lilacism The nail colour came from this mini Spring 2010 Essie collection I would also like to take this opportunity to thank bloggers.com for featuring my blog yesterday as one of the Picks of the Day:) Happy Easter, everyone:)

Easter

Being Catholics, Easter is a pretty big deal for the family. It's pretty much like the solemn version of Christmas, starting with Good Friday, and ending with a feast on Easter Sunday. Of course, for the kids, it's that time of the year when they're allowed to eat as much chocolate as they can...bwahaha! It's also one time of the year I really try to wear a "springy" colour, hence the pastel sweater:P H&M jacket, Jones New York sweater, Rampage skirt, Aldo heels My heels were sinking in the dirt...note to self: Don't wear heels in the backyard! Ready for the egg-hunting... And now, for the egg-painting... By the way, I mentioned back on this post  that I was giving up chocolate for Lent. Did I succeed, you might wonder? Well, yes and no. I had two setbacks: one when I ate my daughter's white chocolate leftover without even thinking about it, and second time when I ate an Oreo parfait  from Wendy's. CURSE YOU, OREO PARFAIT! I h...
