Getting my mojo back

I will admit...it's been hard to trying to get back into the swing of things. I've been in a funk lately. Honestly, this last half of the year has been quite a challenge. I've had days when I just didn't want to get out and see people (even more so than usual) that the hubby had to take over a lot of stuff. The not-so-good stuff seem just to keep on coming...sigh....

To help me get back into some sort of a functional state, these are the things that I've been doing lately.

1) Listening to Taylor Swift's new album 1989 over and over
Because the whole album is just darn good.

2) The Lord of the Rings marathon
Because it makes me think that, at least, I don't have the burden of Frodo and Sam....perspective, right?

 3) Binge-watching knitting podcasts while knitting
Because what else does a knitting-obsessed person like me would do?
I have also decided to learn to make my own yarn through drop spindling. It's pretty cool.

What are the things you do to make yourself feel better?

P.S. A HUGE THANK YOU to all the messages you all have sent to my son. You are all rock stars and each and every one of them made my day. He's still at home, but we're hoping he can go back to school the middle of the week.

Oh my dear, I'm thinking of you and your family. There was a LOTR marathon on TNT this weekend - I couldn't resist, as usual

Hope your funk will be gone soon! I really need to get my hands on the Taylor Swift album.

I like Taylor Swift but I don't think I've heard everything in 1989 yet.

also already in season 3 of GoT. My jaw dropped when Jamie Lannister lost more than his pride. I figured Daenerys wasn't serious about giving away her dragon and how she would get it back. That's probably the only thing I saw coming in the series.
Just keep fighting that funk Emmy cause the good stuff will come again. I just try to focus on everything that's positive in my life and occupy my time with things that make me happy when I'm down. Continued good wishes to your son...

Emmy I'm so sorry you feel so down. Keep doing things that comfort you, I'm glad your husband is taking care of stuff, that's so sweet and not to be given for granted. Looking forward to your next update, take care love!!!!

I picked that up Emmy. Sometimes things can be overwhelming and hard to deal with. Alone time can be good. I went through that a couple of years ago and blogging has been my outlet. People that I thought were friends, were not. People that blogged were nicer, than people I knew for years. You're on the right track. Do things that make YOU happy! That put a SMILE on YOUR face! We're always taking care of others, but you must take care of yourself. Writing down your thoughts and feelings is also good.

LOTR is my bad day go-to as well. Sending you and your family well wishes!

Crap, I think I missed something... I'm so sorry you've been feeling a bit down, Emmy :-( But don't feel bad, we're allowed to feel down every once in a while, no one goes through life smiling 24/7. *hugs*

Sending lots of positive vibes to your son. And to you as well! Being in a funk is no fun. But it looks like you're doing some awesome thing. Always in December I do a Lord of the Rings (and now Hobbit too) marathon. It's sort of become a holiday tradition to see these movies since the new movie always comes out right before Christmas! And what is glorious thing called drop spindling you speak of?? I must find out what it is stat! Thanks for the tip! :)

Glad to know that you are back Emmy and gradually getting into your mojo. Learning to make your own yarn is quite a cute idea.
I pray the young guy gets strong and healthy enough to get back to school soon.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

I like to listen to music. I like old songs like somewhere over the rainbow. It calms me.
Making your own yarn? Can you get any more awesome?!?!

I don't think I've ever listened to T. Swift, but now she seems to be the person of the moment, I see her face everywhere online. I could have a go at that album as well.
