Restoration
My husband has had this "desk" for a long time...even before I met him. It was owned by his old room mates, and he ended up keeping it. We've been using it as a TV stand.
Guess what? This is actually a vintage sewing machine, y'all! A Singer Fashion Mate 252, which was made around the late 1960's/early 70's.
You see...my hubby actually learned how to sew before I did. He used to hem his own pants, which was why he thought he'd be able to use this. However, he never got it to work properly.
Now that I've been sewing more, we decided that maybe, I could get it to work. I never did get the chance to take a pic of the machine's state before all the work was done. It wasn't too bad. His room mates had it serviced after buying it so the motor runs, and no major work was needed. It needed cleaning and oiling, however, and several parts needed replacement.
I ordered the parts on SPO. (I highly recommend this site. Quick shipping to Canada.) Then, I got to work.
After a few hours of work, this baby now runs. A very basic machine (only does straight and zigzag) but man, it's built like a tank and does the stitches amazingly.
And now, here's my sewing space with all my machines, where all the creating happens:D
And I finished the little one's costume for Halloween. Here's a preview:)
Anyhoo, are you a vintage lover?
PS Just wanna wish my fellow Canucks a Happy Thanksgiving!
