The plaid dress

I've always wanted to own a Vivienne Westwood dress but it's really not quite practical for me to spend so much on a designer garment, so I decided to sew an inspired version instead.

dress I sewed using Vogue Pattern 1312
Not gonna lie....this was not a fun sew for me. It was the wrong fabric choice, and I also didn't have the proper width which meant some finagling on my end....sigh...

I do really like the finished dress and I feel great wearing it, so I'd probably be wearing this a lot especially during the fall/winter season.

You did so well Emmy; it looks very neat and chic and the fabric looks good to me. I was going to suggest that you fit it a little bit more because it looks like it's a size up then I saw the last picture where you dressed it up so chic with the jacket and boots and it is just; perfect! Great job.
What an awesome idea to make your own Westwood inspired dress Emmy! Even though it wasn't the easiest to sew, the end result looks fantastic and the way you styled it in the last pic is just great :)

Wow I am so impressed by this look. I love the print and it really stands out in such a bright colour. Best idea to make it. If I was better at sewing I would make the effort to do the same with some designs I like.

Sick Chick Chic
I think you did great with the VW inspired dress, Emmy and it looks great paired with the leather jacket. I wish I could own one of her creation too but mama doesn't have the bank account for it. LOL!

I have often loved Vivienne Westwood's style. Not enough to go and get something of hers, but I do like the aesthetic.

Emmy you did such a fab job of this. The very first image made me smile so bid. I love the color of the dress. Sorry to hear it was a challenge to sew. The outcome makes all the work well worth it though. Perfect with the black jacket and boots.

Isn't the self-made dress much more better than purchasing it? ;) It's looking really cool!
Congratulations on the look. I love it whole. Greetings.
Emmy, you do not give yourself enough credit! It looks fabulous! I love how you paired it with black. The picture of it unfinished also looks great as a top! I would pair it with black pants or long black skirt. But I love it as a dress! You look great! CLAP CLAP CLAP
