Master Of My Domain

If you guys follow me on Twitter, you might know this already, but I want to do an actual blog post about it because it has been such a big part of my life for 6 years.

On Feb 28th, I found out from The Knitting Guild Assocation that I have successfully passed the last level of the Master Hand Knitter program, and am officially a certified Master Knitter now. WUT?!?!?!

Although I didn't discuss it here a lot, I've been doing the program since 2014 and have posted updates here once in awhile. Let me tell you, it was a long and sometimes hard journey. Along the way, I took other courses from TKGA, such as the Basics Basics Basics and the Swatch To Sweater course.

The whole MHK program is based on the ancient method of apprenticeship levels to mastery when it comes to crafting, so the three levels really push you. It really is an amazing program!

I've had a lot of items to do (and re-do) so I thought I'd do a visual re-cap here of all the work that was put into it.

The written work (consisted of swatches, patterns, essays, reports, book and magazine reviews,  answers to questions and bibliography)
Here's a link to my Level 3 binder in case you want to see what was inside:D

The major projects I submitted:

Level 1- Mitten

Level 2- Vest, Wristlet and Argyle Sock
(These are all re-submitted items. The original ones I did were rejected due to mistakes. So bummed about it, but I re-did them, and man, did I learn A LOT!

Level 3- My own hat and sweater design

I must admit I'm really proud of these Level 3 projects. They took me awhile to design and knit, but they were worth the effort.

If you are really into knitting and want to take your skills to the next level, I highly highly recommend doing the program. Everyone in the organization (volunteer Master Knitters themselves) are so helpful and kind. Worth every penny, and time and effort!

Wow congratulations! I'm so proud of you, you truly are the best knitter I've ever met. Well done! :)
Huge achievement Emmy and one to be so proud of. Congratulations! I had no idea how hard you've worked towards this and those submissions certainly show it. The detail in that last sweater is exceptional. That looks like it would take endless amount of hours to complete.

Wow congratulations, you must be so thrilled! What an amazing thing to achieve. I would love to knit but I have such poor co-ordination I don't think I ever would be able to do it, but it's fun to see what pieces you've made! xo
