You win some. You lose some.

I would like to say that all the things I make are a "success" but that would be a BIG FAT LIE. Case in point is the latest dress I made.


Vogue 9253 dress I made worn with Vans sneakers


This is from a Vogue pattern that is supposed to look like this.

Right away, I knew this dress was not really my style because of that deep V neck, but I saw so many ladies who made this dress and they all looked great! I thought I can adjust the neckline easily enough to make it wearable. Alas, I think the neckline is still too deep.

I find it also makes me appear shorter than I am, and look... the plaid pattern is totally not aligned at the back. Eeeeek!
In progress:

To be honest, I'll still wear this because I think it would look ok under a jacket of some sort and I do like the plaid itself. I wouldn't consider this a fave for sure though.

It's crazy to think you don't view this as a success. It looks SO GOOD on you! Super dramatic and elegant. I personally love how it turned out.

I'm sure you'll find some way to make it work Emmy :) I think the style looks just a little too voluminous for your petite frame chingu and it may have worked better if you went with a slinkier fabric that is less structured. What do I know? Just an opinion ;p

It's much better than any dress I'd make! I think you could easily wear a singlet underneath too to give that extra coverage! It's a stunning dress too, even if it's not one of your favourites you did a wonderful job with it! :)

Hope you're having a lovely weekend! We got outside to enjoy the sun a little today which was nice, after a tough day yesterday with an unwell toddler!

I still think it's cute.. even with it's imperfections.
You can always wear something underneath to help with the neckline.

Maybe it should have been longer? I don't know. Dresses are weird for me too because I'm also on the short side. But I think it's still better than anything I could have made -- and you put pockets in it so that's a win!

It's beautiful! I don't think the neckline is bad, you probably just have to adjust to it because it's a change for you. I agree with Josie above, it would look amazing with boots. Love the hat with it, too. Lots of fun layering options with this one.

I love the dress, the shape is stunning on you (in my opinion). I think I'm not sure about the plaid. That coupled with the sleeves and wrap style kind of reminds me of a dressing gown! :o)

Some analogue love #2

Here are some recent shots taken with my Pentax K1000 film camera. I decided to mail my films and have them developed at Downtown Camera , and oh my gosh, you guys! Such a big difference with how they turned out. So so happy, and will be sending all my 35mm films to them from now on. (All these shots were how they were sent to me...no editing. Used Fujifilm ISO200 films.)
