Currently Loving #42

Stuff I'm loving recently:D

1) Heat wave!!!
YASSSS! Temperature's been hovering around 35℃ (around 95℉) with humidity hovering around 41℃ (105℉) and it's great. It's nice to just walk around, enjoy the heat and it also reminds me of when we were in Florida last year:)

Took these shots when the kids were blowing bubbles while walking around our neighbourhood.

In our backyard:D

2) Say Yes To Carrots moisturizer
Love this new addition to my skin care line. It has zinc oxide as a sunscreen protection, it sinks nicely into my face and doesn't break me out:)
(I still use a separate sunscreen though if I know I'll be out in the sun for a long time.)

3) Jay Maisel's book Light, Gesture and Color
I've really been getting more into photography lately. As someone with a bit of a background in painting, there is certainly more of an immediacy when it comes to taking photos.

I asked my blogger friend Rowena (who knows her stuff when it comes to the topic and takes great photos) for some book recommendations. This was one of the books she recommended, and I'm so glad she did. Thank you, my friend!

Jay Maisel not only takes amazing shots, but he has such an engaging and easy-to-understand way in explaining things. Two thumbs up:)

"That's the ultimate gesture, the revelation, and counterpoint when you get two people relating to each other.
When they get good with two, I tell them to try three. It always gets tougher. Don't stop at easy."

4) Julia Trotti's YouTube channel
Speaking of photography, one of the YouTubers I love watching when it comes to this topic is Julia Trotti. Love her style and very laid back way when it comes to shoots, and I also love her editing style. I have some of her Lightroom presets and they're great for one-click edits.

5) The B Side- Elsa Dorfman's Portrait Photography

I actually didn't know who Elsa Dorfman is until I saw this film on Netflix. She's such a wonderful character...someone I would love to hang out with and definitely now an inspiration. (Allen Ginsberg was one of her good friends...totally understand why they got along so well.) I highly recommend this film even if you have no interest in photography.:)

What have you been loving lately?

Oh that heat sounds wonderful! We are shivering here with it being winter, haha. Although I didn't need to add a scarf today so it's not that bad really!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend :) We caught up with family visiting from WA and went to the winter wonderland in the city, it was a lot of fun :)

Away From The Blue Blog
I think I'd enjoy summer a lot more if I had a kiddie pool to play in ;p We're also currently in the midst of a heat wave as well and I can't say i'm loving it but I am having fun coming up with new no cook options for dinners. So glad to hear you picked up the Jay Maisel book and find it as helpful as I did :) I so need to check out that Elsa Dorfman movie! She's daebak!
I think it's amazing that you are really getting into photography since all of these pictures are STUNNING. You are really talented! And the weather has been so unexpected but nice. It finally feels like summer!

We are having lovely sunny weather here in the UK too.

I love your photos and the filters etc you've used on them. I found the videos fascinating. I haven't heard of Jay Maisel, but that book looks interesting. I actually studied photography at uni, so I probably should of heard of him!

I don't like the heat too much here. Our humidity is usually pretty high and it's ugh

I got a charcoal face towel that I just LOVE - it scrubs off all the sweat and dirt from a hot summer day
I know you guys appreciate the heat Emmy. You have cold Winters. Love the pics. I loved blowing bubbles when I was young. So relaxing. Yes, Rowena is an excellent photographer. That book looks really good & helpful.

I love your girls' sunnies, and Netflix need to be checked out when I get home from work. Last weekend I started reading Ruby Wax' book Sane New World, which I really like. Also, the weather is very loveable over here the last days :-)

I was going to say, have you purchased a new camera? I'm loving all these photos of yours, very beautiful. I feel like I need to go outside and stand in the 7 degree cold after reading about your temps. 40 degree. Noooo thanks hahahaha!
