 Stuff I've been loving lately:)

1) The Shadowland by Elizabeth Kostova

Just recently read this book and loved it. Kinda slow at first, but really picks up half way through and just a great read to the end.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A young American woman, Alexandra Boyd, has traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria, hoping that life abroad will salve the wounds left by the loss of her beloved brother. Soon after arriving in this elegant East European city, however, she helps an elderly couple into a taxi and realizes too late that she has accidentally kept one of their bags. Inside she finds an ornately carved wooden box engraved with a name: Stoyan Lazarov. Raising the hinged lid, she discovers that she is holding an urn filled with human ashes.

As Alexandra sets out to locate the family and return this precious item, she will first have to uncover the secrets of a talented musician who was shattered by oppression and she will find out all too quickly that this knowledge is fraught with its own danger.

2) My old Stussy hat
Been wearing this everyday.

3) La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 60
I've been using this sunscreen as my day moisturizer lately, and I'm pretty happy with it.

4) My old Vans slip ons
Been wearing this a lot, esp. when going for short walks.

5) Doc Martens shoes
When out for long walks, I wear these. Super comfy even after hours of walking in them:)

speaking of Doc Martens...

6) DocMartens backpack
This is an old bag my husband gave me years ago, and I've been using it a lot lately. Even when I pack this bag to the max, it's still very comfortable to use:)

7) Our latest day trip
We haven't really been anywhere since the pandemic began, and this was technically our first "trip" away from home. Niagara Falls is always a win, and yay that it's fairly close to us (about an hour and half hour drive).

Wow, that book sounds really interesting. It's such a unique concept and is definitely something I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for! I love your shoes as well. You can't go wrong with a great pair of Vans. Those Doc Martens are classic as well. I always wanted a pair! Good to know that they are super comfortable to wear. Also, YAY that you were able to visit Niagara Falls! It is always so fun there and the views are just incredible. It is nice to have something so special that isn't too far away!
Emmy, I have to try La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 60 Sunscreen. What caught my eye is that it's great for sensitive skin (which I have). I'll definitely give it a whirl, because sunscreen is a must have for me. You know I love your Doc Martens. I've always loved them, because I think they make everything (outfits and people) look so cool. I learned something from you today. I've never visited Niagra Falls and never realized that the Canadian and US side connected. I also didn't know there was a bridge that connected the two side and it's called the Rainbow International Bridge. I will be reading more about it. Your pictures make me want to go! So glad you guys got out. What a beautiful day!

That sunscreen looks really good.
Sounds like a good book. Will check it out.
We have been considering a Niagara trip as well.. not for now.. maybe in the summer. The kids were so little when we first went they don't really remember the trip.

Oh, I love that Doc Marten backpack! And you wear those shoes well. Glad you have the cool baseball cap too. although, I don't ever feel comfortable in a baseball cap. Although, I can't say I feel that comfortable in the beret I just made either. A slouch crocheted hat is my favorite..and to make too.

Suncreen is always a good investment.

So great that you went to the FAllS! I went a long time ago, but on the states side. It was a beautiful trip. I loved being in the mist of it even if it were for only a bit. I hope you are having a lovely October with your family.

Thanks for the intriguing book review! I have about 8 more episodes to go with the Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. Those Semi-devils are cruel with their poisons and pranks and making monks eat meat...=). I guess what I find the most intriguing is the tribal dress and in this Wuxia Fantasy it has a universal aspect one might notice. Although, the fight scenes aren't near as real as in the Sabre Sword. Although, a Chinese author wrote both and these fantasies have been translated and rebooted several times over the year. Or so I have found on MY DRAMA LIST.

Happy Autumn!

I would love to see Niagara Falls one day! You are lucky you are so close :) I've heard nothing but good things about La Roche Posay sunscreens but I've tried two and not found one that works for me, and they are pretty expensive! I have a cheap and cheerful one now, it's not intend, but I think that's also why it doesn't break me out!

Hope your week is off to a good start :) Thanks for your kind words on our loss too. It was so unexpected so it's hit hard.

Everything old school is coming back - I'm glad I kept some of my ooooold clothes :)
It's great that you guys are so close to Niagara Falls and were able to take a trip there. Our friends who live in Toronto took us there when we visited them about 12 years ago and it was so cool. Wow I can't believe it's been so long we last visited Toronto. We'll need to meet up if I ever make it back there chingu ;p That synopsis of that book sounds really compelling. Will have to add to my read list. Y'know one of the first things I ever bought my husband was a Stussy cap. His has long died but he still has his Stussy bag ;D I had a pair of DMs like that back in college. I wore them like every day LOL Doc come in all sorts of fun colors now. A friend of mine has a lavender pair and they are so pretty.
