Halloween 2022

Image
Since I haven't sewed costumes in awhile, I decided to go all out this year.  I used commercial patterns to make these pieces, but changed the pattern according to our shapes:) I wanted these costumes to last a long time because they're basically what we will be wearing for Fan Expo next year. My daughter as the Joker from Gotham, my middle child as Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist, and moi as a a member of the Survey Corp from Attack on TItan Season 4. For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you may have seen my middle son's costume already as I entered it in Pattern Review's cosplay contest. Here is an image from my entry (taken when I finished sewing it.) I made the jacket, pants and butt cape (which I drafted myself), plus drew the gloves. More detailed pics of our costumes:) For my costume, I made the cape, shoulder harness, leg holsters and skirt. The harness, holsters and the skirt are made of leather. (As I mentioned on Twitter, a good friend who works in...

Went to a high school open house for my youngest (who's starting high school next year...huhuhu) Youngest was also in a cross country meet. Middle child just had his birthday. Currently reading Jennette McCurdy's book. What have you been up to lately?

Fall is really here. The weather has turned cold, and it's now getting dark earlier than usual...sigh. Anyhoo, the good thing is that it's sweater weather. Alabama Chanin Flora waffle sweatshirt,  UNIQLO pants, Vans sneakers Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian peeps:) We had our celebration yesterday at my mom's place.

Another one...

Going to the Martyr's Shrine in Midland, Ontario (about an hour and 45 minutes away from us) is another family tradition that halted when COVID happened. The last time we went was in 2019. This year, the church finally opened up, and we were finally able to go back. We took my mum with us:D It looked sunny but it was super cold! For some reason, my husband's eyes were closed in most of the pics...this was the best....) I've never posted the inside of the church, so I decided to take few pics this time. It's a beautiful church. Then, we went to a nearby restaurant.  Do you have a place you go to regularly as part of a "tradition"?

Obsession #59- Coats

Image
Well, it's starting to get colder here in our part of the world. Even though I'm more of a summer girl, one thing I do like about fall/winter is the being able to wear coats:) Ones I recently tried: Sam Edelman coat at The Bay from UNIQLO Honestly, I probably won't be buying a new one for this season as I love the Calvin Klein one I got last year, but I am kinda itching to sew one, so who knows... Are you thinking of a new purchase for this fall/winter season?

What have I been watching #33

Image
Since my last update, I've seen a lot of shows and movies, so I'm not gonna put all of them here, but just the ones I liked/currently liking:D all images from imdb.com TV series: 1) The Sandman I though I'd start off with my fave out of all I've seen...I am so obsessed with Tom Sturridge as Morpheus/Dream! I highly recommend this series. You can't really go wrong with anything by Neil Gaiman (author of the graphic novel this was based on.) 2) LOTR: The Rings of Power Loving this so far, and love the cast....except maybe for Galadriel. (I just don't like her acting:( ) 3) House of the Dragon As a GOT fan, I knew I had to watch this. Ok so far....Matt Smith is awesome as always. 4) Attack on Titan Currently binge-watching this. An old series...I know, but I get the hype now. My sons have been telling me to watch this for forever. LOVE LOVE LOVE. 5) All Of Us Are Dead Kinda slow at first, but it did get better, and well...it has zombies so that's a win for me ...
